  9.      It all started long ago, during a chat with Razfaz, himself
  10.       creator of very fine and technically brilliant songs (hey,
  11.       respect where respect is due). He uses OSS' echo function
  12.        excessively, playing it as a rhythmic echo that repeats
  13.                           every quarternote.
  14.  
  15.       We talked about the problem that, using echo this way, the
  16.         echo of a bassdrum is right "over" the next beat, thus
  17.        killing much of the "kick" of that bassdrum. Back then I
  18.          said that I'd like to try some sort of ambient tune
  19.          (without drums) to play with the beauty of that echo
  20.              function and see how it works out this way.

  22.      Some idle afternoon I remembered that chat and started with
  23.      some extremely wacky-sounding 5 or 6 patterns. The fragment
  24.       lay there on my HD, I didn't want to delete it (after that
  25.      shitty work of finding the correct delay value according to
  26.      the 110 bpm), and I couldn't find the motivation to continue
  27.                              it, either.

  29.        What you are hearing now is, about half a year after the
  30.        first steps, the result of my constant idleness :) - the
  31.      basic patterns and ideas are still there, yet I changed many
  32.       many instruments and re-arranged the whole thing many many
  33.      times. Concerning this part, I believe that I never put more
  34.                  work into a damn song than this one.
  35.  
  36.      The rest is rather simple. I used this rhythmic echo to play
  37.        single notes following my "allround" scale Es-Major, and
  38.        these add up to some sort of chords by echoing into the
  39.          following notes. I found that "technique" (uuuhhhm)
  40.          extremely catchy during composing as you'll hear. :)

  42.          During composing it was indeed my intent to let some
  43.        harmonic development in the arrangement "unfinished" and
  44.         return to the start of the sequence, as so to keep the
  45.      listener waiting for more to happen. One might say that the
  46.      monster climax the song reaches doesn't fit the arrangement,
  47.      and I partially agree with that, after all it was just a try
  48.       which carried me away, but in the end I was so touched by
  49.       the simplicity and power of that part, and that led me to
  50.                     keeping it the way it is now.
